Controller Layout and Stick Modes
The Skysdrone controller uses Mode 2 by default. The left stick controls height and turning, and the right stick moves the drone forward, back, left and right. You can switch to Mode 1 or Mode 3 in the Skysdrone app if you learned on a different setup. New pilots should read how to fly a drone for the first time before changing anything.
How to Pair the Controller
- Power on the controller and the drone.
- Open the app and go to Settings, then Controller, then Pair.
- Press the pairing button on the drone when prompted.
- Wait for the confirmation tone and the status light to turn solid.
Skysdrone Not Connecting? Try This
- Restart everything in this order: controller, drone, then the app.
- Check the cable. Use the original phone cable and try the other port.
- Update firmware on both the drone and the controller so versions match.
- Re-pair using the steps above.
- Move away from interference such as Wi-Fi routers, power lines and crowds of phones.

Getting the Best Range
Point the flat faces of the antennas towards the drone, not the tips. Keep a clear line of sight and avoid flying behind buildings or hills. If the link does drop, the drone's failsafe takes over, as explained in what to do when your drone loses signal. To plan safe distances with a battery reserve, use the drone range calculator.
Caring for Your Controller
Charge it before every flying day, keep the sticks protected in transport and store it at room temperature. A dead controller mid-flight is one of the most avoidable piloting mistakes.
